1962 Honda CR1100

Honda CR1100, 50 cc, 8.5 hp @ 13,500 rpm, Japan, 1962. In order to bring new blood into motorcycle racing, the FIM created a racing class for inexpensive, production 50 cc motorcycles. The CR1100 fell into this niche with an air-cooled, single cylinder engine and a race-ready compression ratio of 10.3 to 1. To keep the revs high, the transmission had eight speeds and used a dry clutch.
